As usual, the silver lining is provided by none other than Chi-Town's favorite son, Derrick Rose.
During warmups before the Chicago Bulls played the Oklahoma City Thunder, Derrick Rose was dunking off the dribble, an important step to full recovery from his ACL surgery. |
The Chicago Bulls organization has, and wisely so, emphasized that they want Derrick Rose to come back only when he feels ready. They have a great deal invested in the 24 year old former MVP of the league, including a 5-year $94 million contract signed in December 2011.
In addition, while the Bulls' roster was overhauled over the summer in order to stay under the new salary cap, it was still design to be a team centered around the Bulls' All-World Point Guard. While these moves added veteran combo guards Kirk Hinrich and Nate Robinson in order to score and run the team while Rose recovers from ACL surgery and rehab, the Rose-less Chicago Bulls are an Aston Martin without its engine.
So, Chicago waited. And hoped. And prayed. And longed.
And with each passing game on the schedule, the media leaks updates of DRose's rehab to the fans of Chi-Town.
And the latest video shows a literal "leap" in DRose's rehab: Derrick Rose is dunking.
While we don't yet know exactly when, Chicago can plan on hearing the words that brings the greatest joy to a Bulls' fan's heart: "I'm Back!"
