Chicago Bulls Rookie Head Coach Named NBA Coach of The Year

CHICAGO, IL. After his very first season as an NBA head coach, Tom Thibodeau was named NBA Coach of the Year. Not bad for a rookie.

However, Thibodeau is no mere rookie in the coaching game.

In his first year as a head coach, Tom Thibodeau win Coach of the Year and has the Chicago Bulls poised to possibly win the franshise's 7th NBA Championship
With a resume that spans 21 years as an assistant coach, including 4 seasons as associate head coach with the Boston Celtics under Doc Rivers and puctuated by an NBA Championship in 2008, Thibodeau is definitely no mere rookie head coach.

And his accomplishments this season are a testament to that. In guiding the Chicago Bulls to a record of 62 - 20, the best record in the NBA, Thibodeau matched the NBA record for most wins by a rookie head coach, tying Paul Westphal and his 1992-93 Phoenix Suns.

After being passed over for head coaching positions several times, Thibodeau has made the most of his first opportunity. He brought his incredible work ethic and endless pursuit of perfection to a talented young team with a young star that shared his work habits and endless desire to get better.

Thibodeau turned down more lucrative offers to coach New York and New Jersey to coach the Bulls and a player in Derrick Rose who mirrored his own work ethic and will and desire to win.
With Derrick Rose as his best player and biggest supporter, Thibodeau and the Chicago Bulls were destined to do great things this season, but no one predicted that Rose, Thibs, or the Bulls would be this good this soon.

And this year's playoff ride is still not over.
