And among the teams that he wants to go to? Houston, Boston, Phoenix, Golden State, and CHICAGO.
The Summer of the Bulls: Can Chicago land Melo or Love, or possibly both? |
Some other reveals from the sports talk conversation:
- Love's representatives have set a deadline of July 1st that he wants to be traded by.
- The above are teams he would sign an extension with (Houston, Boston, Phoenix, Golden State, and CHICAGO).
- Love wants to go to an organization that can win now, and so, ties to the Lakers no longer appears as strong.
- Lakers or Celtics would give up any top pick 4 or worse. They would pause and think about giving up top 3 or better (LOTTERY UPDATE: Boston has the 6th Overall Pick and Los Angeles has the 7th).
- Lakers don't have the total number of picks to give up that Boston has.
- Love doesn't want to go through another training camp with the T'Wolves.
With Love being clear about his plans not to return to the Timberwolves, Minnesota will need to consider all offers for Love.
Kevin Love will be a free agent in the summer of 2015.
With only one more year remaining on his contract, teams that will give up considerable assets to acquire Love will need to be able to sign him to a contract extension, which gives Love some leverage in going to the team and situation of his choice.
He wants to win now, and the Chicago Bulls are a desirable situation for the All-Star Power Forward.
With Mirotic, Melo, and now, Love considering Chicago as a destination of choice this summer, the Summer of 2014 may go down as one of the biggest in Chicago Bulls history!
