But according to one man, Carmelo Anthony to the Chicago Bulls is a "done deal".
@incarceratedbob tweeted the following on NBA draft day:
"Helloooooo Chicago! #Melo to Bulls pretty much done deal... (Draft Day Tweet) now let all the #MSM clowns act like they broke this next week"
It was certainly a popular tweet from the individual that supposedly first reported that Payton Manning would go to the Denver Broncos.
According to other sources, @incarceratedbob tweets about rumors without having an inside source, however he certainly has his finger on the pulse of popular opinion.
Chicago Bulls fans the world over are cautiously optimistic that the day will come that Carmelo Anthony announces that he is coming to Chicago.
Despite the additional suitors for his services, Melo has already informed teams that the only visits he will be making are Houston, Dallas, and Chicago.
The most recent reports out of Miami is that despite the Big 3 all having opted out of their contracts, their biggest target that they are pursuing is Toronto's Kyle Lowry.
And while Houston continues to shed salary in hopes of luring Melo by getting worse (Houston can actually offer more money than Chicago at this moment) and Dallas has Tyson Chandler willing to recruit Melo, Anthony seems very steady in his interest in Chicago.
Chicago's most aggressive actions in improving the team is mostly to seemingly prevent the inclusion of their current starters in any deals, unless it is a deal for a superstar (i.e. Kevin Love).
And the Chicago Bulls will still be getting better because of the impending arrival of Nikola Mirotic, which is all but certain at this time.
And with Houston and Dallas battling to make the playoffs in the competitive West, Chicago stands alone as Melo's best opportunity in his career to go to multiple NBA Finals, as well as predictably facing Lebron James every year for the right to go to the NBA Finals.
And with the superior coaching and superior complementary pieces, Melo will be defeating Lebron year after year on the big stage.
If the Chicago Bulls can shut the Miami Heat out of the NBA Finals for the duration of Melo's contract, he may be able to shut the door on Lebron's legacy, as well as, writing his own.
