The biggest question of the Chicago Bulls' off-season can only be on thing: Will Derrick Rose Return as the old, MVP-caliber DRose that nearly led the team to the NBA Finals?
While many other players have dropped out of their commitments to play for Team USA this summer, Derrick Rose has been adamant about participating this summer. And the Chicago Bulls front office and Head Coach Tom Thibodeau were very supportive if for no other reason, it would help Rose acclimate back to the speed and conditioning of the NBA.
So, it was no coincidence that Chicago Bulls' personnel were present for Monday's first Team USA practice at the campus of UNLV. And they had to be very pleased with what they saw from their franchise player.
Short videos have been circulating via social media for a day now that show glimpses of Derrick Rose leaping with his head nearly touching the rim as he throws down a two handed slam.
Another video shows Rose taking contact and finishing his shot before ending up on the floor; it was also announced that there will be no limitation to DRose's participation and play, indicating that the Team USA staff has not been advised of any medical reasons to limit Rose in any way.
If you are a Chicago Bulls fan or work for the Bulls' organization, you have to feel pretty good about the teams' shot of reaching the lofty expectations that have already been foisted upon this team since "settling" for getting 4-time NBA All Star Pau Gasol and signing former Spanish League MVP Nikola Mirotic in lieu of landing Carmelo Anthony.
The Bulls have also reportedly signed their insurance policy for Derrick in the form of finalizing a deal for offensive-minded free agent point guard Aaron Brooks.
With Brooks on board and the return of a dominant DRose, the Chicago Bulls boast one of the most complete and deep teams in the NBA. And with focus and effort, this reloaded and talented Bulls' team will challenge for the NBA Championship.
