CHICAGO BULLS OFF-SEASON REPORT: The Chicago Bulls Take Jimmy Butler Off The Market

Whether unofficially true or not, there were several weeks that it seemed that several teams were trying to put together a package to acquire Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls.

However, as of today, the Chicago Bulls have officially taken the All-Star and 2015 NBA Most Improved Player off the market.

Jimmy Butler will like stay put with the Chicago Bulls for the near future as the Chicago Bulls will make another NBA Championship run rather than choosing to rebuild this off-season.
After it seemed that some teams with the assets to spend were looking to add the 26 year old guard/forward to their teams had come up with some promising offers, they were ultimately unwilling to come up with the deal that it would take to get the Chicago Bulls to part with their best player.

Then when the Chicago Bulls signed former All-Star Rajon Rondo and then was selected as the destination for All-Star Guard Dwayne Wade, the Chicago Bulls were on a path to try to make another run at winning now.

Trading Jimmy Butler for young players and draft picks would defeat the whole purpose of signing Rajon Rondo for 2 year, $28M and reaching a verbal agreement with Dwayne Wade on a 2 year, $48M deal.

After the impressive off-season moves, the Chicago Bulls are likely done dealing for now, particularly with the announcement that Jimmy Butler is no longer available.

The Chicago Bulls organization and coaching staff will likely need practice, preseason, and a few weeks into the season to evaluate how the players comprising the roster at present will mesh together into a championship contender before pinpointing arising needs before the NBA's Trade Deadline.

For, now the Chicago Bulls look like this on paper:

  • PG    Rondo / Grant / Dinwiddie
  • SG    Wade / Valentine
  • SF    Butler / McDermott / Snell
  • PF    Mirotic / Gibson
  • C     Lopez / Portis / Felicio

With Jimmy Butler off the market for the near future, there will be some consistency and stability in the locker room, allowing the players to get to know their teammates.

Rajon Rondo was seen on the bench at the Chicago Bulls' summer league games; it was a good show of being a good teammate and leader to meet some of the young players that will be on the roster, as well as, other young players in the franchise's system.

There may be very good cause for optimism for Windy City basketball fans this upcoming season.
