Chicago Bulls Nearing Trade For 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year Carter-Willaims

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in preseason action last night, however two players who did not appear in the battle may be playing major roles for the other team this season.

The Chicago Bulls are reportedly in advanced discussions with the Milwaukee Bucks to acquire Michael Carter-Williams in exchange for swingman Tony Snell.

2014 NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams may be headed to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for swingman Tony Snell.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been in dire need of a replacement for Khris Middleton, who suffered a long-term injury just prior to training camp.

In light of the injury to Middleton, the Bucks have made no secret of their need for shooting and perimeter defense.

Milwaukee recently completed a deal to acquire Michael Beasley from the Houston Rockets, in part, to address the loss of Khris Middleton's offensive production.

The Chicago Bulls' Snell has shown flashes of offensive explosiveness, as well as, the ability to shoot the three (35% from 3-point range last season). In addition, Snell has been a capable perimeter defender that could fill that role for the Bucks in Middleton's absence.

In exchange, the Milwaukee Bucks would be sending over Michael Carter-Williams, the 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year.

After being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers, Carter-Williams has seen his season averages decline, finishing the 2015-16 season with 11.5 PPG, 5.2 APG, 5.1 RPG in his first full season with the Bucks.

Despite this, it's hard to overlook the youth and potential that the 6' 6", 25 year old point guard from Syracuse brings; he had two triple-doubles in his rookie season, and began his sophomore season with 3 more prior to ending up in Milwaukee.

With Rajon Rondo signed to only a 2 year deal, the Chicago Bulls would have a capable and experienced big point guard that can take over if the team and Rondo were to part ways.

The trade would give both players a fresh start on teams that could still sign them to an extension on their rookie contract prior to October 31st.
