CHICAGO BULLS OFF-SEASON REPORT: Minnesota Timberwolves Interested In Chicago Bulls Jimmy Butler in Exchange For #5 NBA Draft Pick

The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly interested in dealing away their 5th Overall Pick in the NBA Draft in exchange for the Chicago Bulls Jimmy Butler.

Jimmy Butler could garner a bounty from the Minnesota Timberwolves centered around the #5 Overall Pick in this month's NBA Draft

After a disappointing season marred by injuries, the Chicago Bulls just may be listening to the seemingly lopsided proposal.

The Chicago Bulls ended up missing the playoffs after a preseason with expectations that they were the clear and only potential challenger to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Eastern Conference crown.

But with a starting lineup that was decimated by injuries, with Gasol missing 10 games, Mirotic 16 games, Butler 15 games, Rose 16 games, and Dunleavy missing 51 games, that the Chicago Bulls remained in the playoff hunt until the final week of the season was an accomplishment.

However, the Chicago Bulls will be parting ways with both Pau Gasol and 2014 Defensive Player of the Year Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose will be in the final year of his contract, so it may be time to retool the line-up.

With his value at a peak, the Chicago Bulls would be able to command a hefty bounty in exchange for Jimmy Butler.

With their young assets and the #5 Overall Pick in this month's NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves would be able to come up with a trade package that could pry one of the top two-way players in the NBA away from Chicago.

Along with the #5 Overall Pick and without giving up young superstar swingman Andrew Wiggins, the Minnesota Timberwolves could also offer high-flyer Zach Lavine and Gorgui Dieng.

That package might just be enough to reunite Jimmy Butler with former Chicago Bulls head coach and new Timberwolves head coach and president, Tom Thibodeau. It would also give Minnesota one of the best starting line-ups in the competitive Western Conference.

  • PG  Rubio
  • SG  Butler
  • SF  Wiggins
  • PF  Townes
  • C   Pekovic

For Chicago, it would give the Bulls a rapid reboot to their line-up with young talent that would be able to grow together, as well as, giving Chicago cap-room to pursue free agents.

With the #5 Overall Pick, the Bulls are reportedly eyeing Providence point guard Kris Dunn, giving them an exciting young starting line-up of the future:

  • PG  Dunn
  • SG  Lavine
  • SF  Mirotic/ McDermott
  • PF  Portis
  • C   Dieng
