Chicago Bulls Officially Sign Free Agent All-Star Dwyane Wade

After over a week of waiting, the Chicago Bulls can finally officially announce that they have signed free agent All-Star guard Dwyane Wade.

After spending his entire NBA career with Miami Heat, Wade officially signed a 2 year deal worth about $47M.

The Chicago native had this message for Chicago Bulls fans following the official signing:

Wade ended a tenure in Miami that spanned 13 seasons, scoring more than 20,000 points, getting selected to 12 All-Star teams, and winning 3 NBA Championships as a Miami Heat.

There are conflicting stories about why the relationship ended in such a way for a player that was the face of the Miami Heat franchise.

What is known is that it was Wade that sacrificed money in several contract negotiations to bring together the Big 3 of himself, Chris Bosh, and Lebron James, leading to back-to-back championships for the Heat.

After that sacrifice, the Heat took a hard line in offering Wade a reported deal worth only 2 years, $40M in an off-season that saw middle of the road talent reaching ludicrous deals with the huge rise in the salary cap from last season.

Dwyane Wade has repeatedly offered that his relationship with Pat Riley is fine and that his decision to join the Chicago Bulls has been a childhood dream of his since watching the Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls growing up.

Recent rumors are that the Chicago Bulls' signing of Dwyane Wade sets the stage for a three-team deal to acquire Russell Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Miami Heat's loss is the Chicago Bulls gain as the 34 year old Wade still put up respectable averages of 19.0 PPG, 4.6 APG, 4.1 RPG and an efficiency rating of 20.42.

General manager Gar Forman said in a release that Wade "provides a great veteran perspective on the court and in the locker room" and "will be a tremendous fit with our team."

With the Dwyane Wade signing completed, the Chicago Bulls are rumored to be looking into a three-team deal to acquire Russell Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, no deal involving off-season free agent signings can be completed until December 15th.
